Dr Mark Deeks is an experienced speaker who likes to challenge our assumptions about music, and help us to understand the important role music can play in our mental health and wellbeing.

Mark has appeared as a guest on a range of popular television shows, radio channels, and in publications, including on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5, BBC Radio Newcastle, Times Radio, on BBC’s Children in Need Big Singalong, and in The Guardian and Metal Hammer.

In 2020 he published his book Not Another Piano Book, which shows readers that playing piano can be achievable for anyone.

He has spoken at the BBC Radio Children in Need Big Fancy Dress Singalong Project, and the world’s first Men’s Mental Health Summit on Clubhouse.

As well as his musical keynote speeches, he offers a range of interactive music-based workshops that can be combined with his talks.
